Pine Bark, Orchid Bark, Garden Bark - Moutere River Company
Pine Bark Suppliers, Pine Bark Traders, Pine Bark Wholesalers, Pine Bark Exporters - Moutere River Company Ltd, New Zealand.New Zealand, Australia and Chile all have significant areas of land planted in commercial exotic pine species. In New Zealand the Radiata Pine (or Monterey Pine) pinus radiata is the predominant species. Pine bark from the logs that are harvested is in abundant supply and much research work has been carried out to ascertain its usefulness as a media for soil-less plant propagation. Most potting mix producers take the pine bark freshly removed from the logs and artificially compost it using water and nitrogen fertilizers over a short time frame of 12-15 weeks. This is done to deactivate toxins and neutralize the nitrogen consuming microorganisms. However, the bark does not remain stable and after a period of time pH rating can decrease and nitrogen drawdown can begin to increase causing a slowdown in growth. Moutere River Company Ltd has access to a considerable resource of Radiata Pine bark which has been left to naturally decompose over a period of fifteen to twenty years. The result is a completely inert growing media which is highly stable and most importantly, is completely organic. Our two main bark products are Composted Bark and Fresh Pine BarkPine Bark - fresh Pine logs (pinus radiata) are debarked prior to processing into millable timber. The pine bark that is removed is then screened to remove cambium and wood pieces and finally size-graded and dried before bagging. Typically the pine bark is a reddish brown colour and presents an attractive finish to landscaped gardens. It is an effective weed suppressant and reduces soil moisture evaporation. It is also known as landscape bark or decor bark. Our principal size ranges are: Fines: Typically 1-5mm. Customised sizes can be arranged dependent on quantities required. For more information contact us at enquiries@moutere.com. Packing can also be arranged to suit from retail packs of 20 litres to bulk bags of one cubic metre. Our standard pack is a 50 litre polypropylene bag. 700 x 50 litre bags per 20 foot full container loads
Composted Bark
Our unique naturally composted organic bark is highly suited to use as a potting mix additive, as a standalone media, or as an additive in turf management; either in sports field or golf green construction. The pine bark has been stockpiled over a period of five to twenty years and has weathered to very stable state. The pH level is a constant 6.5 and there are very few nutrients of any consequence. This gives the grower the opportunity to add fertilisers in any variation of quantity to achieve optimum plant growth. With artificially composted bark (using water and fertilisers) pH levels begin to decline some months after the composting process and nitrogen drawdown begins to increase. Our pine bark is screened in a five-stage process to produce a clean, effective media. Our principal size ranges are: Crushed Bark: Normally in a typical size range of 0-4mm Customised sizes can be arranged dependent on quantities required.
